How Book Jingle works

How does the process work?
1) Enter the ISBN(s) of the books you want to sell. Press the enter button after each number, so that each book is on a single line.

2) Click the “Show my offer(s)” button to see our offer for each book.

3) You can then choose to accept or reject the offer for each book. If you decide to accept the offer, simply click on the "accept offer" check box and the books will be added to your cart.

4) Select a delivery method. Shipping is always FREE if you use our mailing label.

5) Complete the check out process and confirm the books you are selling.

6) Get paid FAST! We offer payment via PayPal or check. PayPal payments will be sent and checks mailed within 48 hours of receiving your shipment.

Do you match prices?
Yes. If you find another online site that is paying more for your book, please let us know. If possible, we will beat their price.  Please email us for more information.

How many copies of the same book will you buy?
This number changes based upon each individual title. We only buy one copy of some titles, while we may buy multiple copies of another title. The maximum quantity will always be shown when we display your offer. If you would like us to consider purchasing additional copies, please email us.

What is the cost to use Book Jingle?
None. Our site is completely free.

Is there a minimum amount of books I must sell?
Yes. In order to keep offering the best buyback prices on the internet, we ask that each order contain at least 5 books or has a total value of at least $8.00.

What types of books do you buy?
We purchase all types of books; however, we normally specialize in non-fiction books and textbooks. We are specifically interested in the following genres:

Do you buy textbooks?
We are always interested in purchasing textbooks. However, we cannot purchase teacher’s editions or international editions.

What type of books will you not buy?
We will not purchase the following books:

• Advanced Reading Copies / Uncorrected Proofs / Galley Copies
• Teacher's Editions and Annotated Instructor's Editions
• Workbooks / Study guides that have been worked
• Solutions Manuals and Answer Keys
• International/Foreign Edition Textbooks
• Reader’s Digest Books
• Books without an ISBN
• Magazines
• Encyclopedia sets
• Partial Sets or sets with missing volumes
• Pornography

• Books on the occult
• Books with front cover torn to indicate disposal
• Any books marked "not for resale"
• Any book that does not meet our guideline for what is a good book.
• Any book/order from a customer creating multiple orders in the same day to circumvent quantity thresholds. If you possess a quantity of books above our threshold please contact us to see if we can purchase more.

Although the website may have generated an initial offer for that title, we are unable to purchase the above books listed above.

What if I send a book that does not meet your guidelines?
If you send us a book from our "will not buy" list we simply will not buy it. You will not get paid for that title. If you send us a book that does not meet our "good condition guidelines" we will either refuse to buy it, or pay you a reduced amount for that title.

If your item does not meet our guidelines and we refuse to buy your item, that item is held for 30 days and you may have it returned at your expense. After 30 days, the item is either destroyed or recycled in accordance with our company policies.

Do my books have to be a certain condition?
Yes. Your books must be in standard good used condition. This means that the cover can show some wear, but must still be in good condition. All pages must be intact and the binding must be tight.

We will not accept books with the following defects:
• Water damage / Moisture damage
• Staining to pages
• Missing pages
• Loose pages
• Torn pages
• Books with an odor (smoke, musty, etc.)
• Paperback books with torn covers
• Workbooks or Manuals with answers written in the blanks
• Any book/order from a customer creating multiple orders with the same title to circumvent quantity thresholds. If you possess a quantity of books above our threshold please contact us to see if we can purchase more.

Will you purchase ex-library books?
Yes. As long as they meet our condition requirements, withdrawn library books are accepted without any reduction to the offer amount.

Will you purchase books with missing supplements? (CDs, DJ, online passcodes)
Yes. We do accept books with missing supplements, however, we will most likely reduce the original offer price once we receive the item.

Will you purchase books with writing, highlighting, or underlining?
Yes. We accept books with writing, highlighting, and underlining without any reduction to the original offer price if less than 25% of the pages are affected. Books that contain such markings on more than 25% of the pages may receive a reduction to the original offer price.


Will you purchase books with moisture or water damage?
No.

ISBN

What is an ISBN?
The ISBN is the International Standard Book Number. Most books began including these numbers in the mid-1970’s.

Where can I find the ISBN?
The ISBN can be found in a few places. Normally, the barcode on the back of a book contains the ISBN. The ISBN can be found in one of the following locations:
• Back Cover: The ISBN is the 10 or 13 digit number that follows the word "ISBN" on or near the barcode. The ISBN is also the 13 digit number that begins with 978
• Back Cover: The ISBN can also often be found in various places on the back cover, but usually in the bottom right corner.
• Copyright Page: The ISBN can almost always be found on this page.
• Inside Dust Jacket: Some books have the ISBN printed on the inside flap of the dust jacket.

What if my book doesn’t have an ISBN?
Unfortunately, we are unable to quote a price without an ISBN.

Shipping

How do I ship my books?
Carefully pack your books into a sturdy box or bubble mailer. A box is our preferred method. If you are shipping more than 3 books. If using a box, please remember the following:
• Use corrugated cardboard box. Single layer cardboard boxes (i.e. cereal boxes, show boxes, etc…) and not good shipping boxes. We suggest using a copier paper box or another sturdy box.
• Make sure that your books will not shift during shipment. Crumpled newspaper is an excellent cushion for sending books. You can also use plastic grocery bags as a cushion.
• It is very important to make sure that your books will not shift during shipment.


Is shipping really free?
Yes. Media Mail shipping is always FREE for your books, as long as you meet our minimum order requirements.


Other items

Can I check the status of my order?
You can check the status of your order at any time by logging into your account. We keep you informed every step of the way. You can see if we have received your books, if we have issued payment, and other details.


What if my shipment contained books that are not on the packing slip?
If you accidentally ship us books that were not included on the packing slip, we may still purchase those books. If we are currently purchasing that title, we will add the offer to your total. If we are not purchasing that title, we will inform you that we received some additional books in error. We will then hold the book for 30 days. If you would like us to send the book back, we are glad to do so after receiving payment for the shipping cost. Also, the additional cost of shipping will be deducted from your total offer for any books sent in error.


What if my shipment contained the wrong edition or wrong book?
We are unable to pay the shipping or the offer price for any book that is the wrong edition or wrong book. We will deduct the quoted amount and incremental shipping cost from your original offer amount. We will hold the book for 30 days. We will then inform you that we received some additional books in error. If you would like us to send the book back, we are glad to do so after receiving payment for the shipping cost.


Why can’t you purchase all of my books?
Book Jingle is able to evaluate each of your books based upon our proprietary software. We have found that most individuals would like an offer that truly reflects the value of each book. We would be unable to offer such competitive prices if we purchased all books.


I have a large collection of valuable books, are there any other options available to me?
Yes. If you have a large collection of valuable books, you might qualify for our consignment option. Please email us for more information.

Getting paid

How do I get paid?
We offer two easy ways to get paid.
• Paypal – As the world’s leading online payment website, PayPal offers the best in convenience and security. This method will allow you to receive your payment the quickest. PayPal is our preferred payment method.
• Check – We are also happy to mail you a check after receiving your books.

Will you really pay me within 48 hours of receiving my books?
Yes. We pride ourselves on quick payment and excellent service.

Why was my payment lower than the original price quotation?
If the payment you received was lower than the original price quotation,
a few things could have happened:
• We received the wrong book
• The books did not meet our condition standards
• Additional books were sent that were not on the packing slip
• The book has excessive highlighting, underlining, and writing If we need to lower your original quote, we will notify you via email with details.
